Labels:daily | hakham | monitor | reckoner OCR: The partnership between racer Carroll Shelby and English manufacturer AC Cobra will go down as one of the most famous, and successful, in racing history. Shelby was drag racer with dream. He wanted to build an American car to take on the Europeans in Grand Prix competition. Eventually, armed with a 427 big block Ford, Shelby formed partnership with the little known AC to build light car with stupefying acceleration that would challenge Ferarri in Grand Prix competition. The Cobra was not graced with good handling, transverse leaf springs front and rear, but it outrun anything Ferarri had to offer in a straight line. Shelby never got as far as manufacturer championship before Ford ended its support of the Cobra but the legend lives on as one of the most inspiring in racing history. leat For ...
